A message from Wally Cekala

Welcome to Chicken Wire! With all the snow we've had this winter, I've decided to call
this our First Annual "Winter Wonderland" Issue. (Warmer weather is
coming...or so I've been told.) This month, Willy T., the world's
greatest mascot, gets an extreme makeover. We disclose the winner of
WT's Chicken Joke contest, let you in on a great event in New Hampshire,
see what's going on inside our retail store, and much more.
If you like our newsletter, please tell your friends. If you have any suggestions for future issues, feel free to contact me. And remember to join in the fun on our Facebook page.
Stay warm, stay dry, and we'll see you next issue.

Fashionista's Corner: Do you know this bird?
Big eyes.
Distinctive deli hat.
Come-hither bow tie.
For years, these have
been the identifying markings of Willy T., Willow Tree's mascot, both in
our ads and on our Cluck Trucks. But oddly, whenever you saw him in
person at a road race, event, concert or supermarket,
he looked just like any other screaming-yellow six-foot chicken
(sporting a rather "off-the-rack" look, if you will).
But that was then - and this is now. The next time you see Willy T. out and about, try not to be shocked. Because
as you can see, our favorite giant chicken has had some major work
done. Willow Tree President Wally Cekala hopes that the legions of Willy
T. fans will love the new look as much as he does.
"It's such a
fashion-forward look for him you can almost see him strutting down some
catwalk. On second thought, since he is a chicken, he should probably
stay as far away from a catwalk as possible."
Willy T. was unavailable for comment - as usual.
Catch Willow Tree at the Women's Expo
Calling all Moms!!
If
you're anywhere near southern New Hampshire later this week, make plans
to stop by WZID's Women's Expo. It's a great event and Willow Tree is
once again proud to be there, with chicken pies and salads for your
sampling pleasure as well as money-saving coupons. Join the fun February
19th from 10am to 4pm at the Center of New Hampshire / Radisson Hotel
Expo Center on Elm Street in Manchester.
What's in store for you this month: NEW! homemade salads
Customers of our Attleboro retail store know how popular our salads are. Frankly, they're so popular that we've been known to run out from time to time. Not
anymore. From now on, in addition to our homemade egg and ham salads,
we've added Willow Tree chicken salad with Craisins® and walnuts, white
potato salad, red bliss potato salad, and our own seafood salad. Until the end of February, our seafood salad will be on sale at $3.69 lb. - available at our retail store only. Says
store manager Chris Cekala, "It comes down to customer demand and, of
course, maintaining our superior product quality."
For
those who haven't been to the store lately, Chris also wants everyone
to know that the deli now features a complete selection of Boar's Head
deli meats. So come on in and taste what's new!
Enter WT's "Try-and-Surprise-Us" Recipe Contest
We
don't know what it is, but Willow Tree Chicken Pies and Chicken Salad
just seem to bring out the genius in people. (Don't turn around. You
know who you are, adding capers to our pie or pecans to our salad.)
While we may think we've seen it all, Chicken Wire!
challenges you to surprise us in the 1st Annual Try-and-Surprise-Us
Recipe Contest. Simply send us the Willow Tree best recipe we've never
heard of - involving either chicken pie or salad. The winner will
receive great Willow Tree merchandise - AND we'll profile you in a
future issue of Chicken Wire!
To enter, e-mail your recipe here by April 8th, 2011. Good luck!
