4/27/10 - Sun Chronicle - Signs Show City Business are Experiencing Upturn
There are growing signs the area might be emerging from the Great Recession. Evidence turned up in a Sun Chronicle survey to determine the Top 10 Employers in Attleboro in a front page report Monday. Walter Cekala, owner of Willow Tree, says the company has added approximately 25 employees over the past five years as the reach of its two major products - frozen chicken pies and fresh chicken salad - has expanded from New England into New Jersey and upper New York.

Willow Tree Farm is fast becoming a national player in prepared fresh and frozen poultry products. Started in the late 1800s as a small chicken farm that delivered eggs to the community, today the Attleboro, MA, firm focuses on premium poultry pies and deli-fresh chicken and turkey salads.

Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but when it comes to culinary expertise and enlightenment it easily surpasses its large, more cosmopolitan rivals. With the exception of Willow Tree Chicken Salad, all of the other salads featured in the deli case are from the commissary.

Thanksgiving Day fixings to 200 families in need at Goodwill’s Boston
headquarters in Roxbury. The turkeys were donated by Willow Tree Farms in Attleboro, the baskets
donated by Sterilite Corporation in Townsend, while Shaws took care of
the canned goods, stuffing, pies, etc.
